Downtown Jacksonville Waterfront

Florida’s largest metro area Jacksonville is not what most people think of as tourist destination. However the waterfront downtown area, Jacksonville Landings shopping and entertainment district, is a fantastic place to spend the weekend.

I went to the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show yesterday to see the worlds largest in the water boat show which spanned multiple locations.

Four Sportfishing Yachts at Dock

Other venues include the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Hotel & Marina, Hall of Fame Marina and Las Olas Marina in Fort Lauderdale.

When you think of Florida you don’t think of skylines, but Downtown Tampa has one of the nicest in the southeast with a view of Tampa Bay and the Hillsborough River. Visitors and locals alike have plenty of things to do in Tampa like playing the slots at the Hard Rock Casino, or hitting the nightclubs in Ybor City. Wildlife lovers can hit Busch Gardens or the Florida Aquarium at down at the Port of Tampa. The Trolley offers transpiration throughout Tampa so once you get here, you can forget about having to drive around the city.

One of Florida’s unique places is St. Petersburg with its perfect blend of metro and waterfront living. St. Petersburg is home to the Salvador Dali Museum, considered a leader in the Surrealist Movement. Other places worth a visit include Treasure Island and the St. Petersburg Pier.
