Throwing Spray

Surfer Throwing Spray

Throwing spray is a term widely used by lots of water sports like surfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding and skimboarding. The surfer above is throwing awesome spray on Cocoa Beach during Hurricane Earl.

Kiteboarder Throwing Spray

Kiteboarding is possibly the fastest growing water sport in Florida. This kiteboarder was at Cape Canaveral and was throwing spray like a pro.

Skimboarder Throwing Spray

Skimboarding is also a popular sport, especially among the younger crowd. I used to skimboard as a teenager, but somehow falling shoulder first into a shell packed beach doesn’t seem as fun as it used to be.

When you find yourself surrounded by water and you’re looking for things to do in Florida, just get out and Throw Some Spray.

Northeast Florida Shrimp Boats

Port Canaveral Shrimper
Shrimp Boats entering through inlet in St. Augustine.

I’ve always loved shrimp boats almost as much as I love the taste of wild native shrimp. When I see shrimp boats in the Gulf scooping up oil from BP’s Deepwater Horizon disaster, my heart sinks as the environmental and economic disaster unfolds and wonder how the oil spill will affect Florida beaches and coastal waters.

Beach Thunderstorm

Florida thunderstorms can pop-up quickly as this storm did on Cocoa Beach. The light show can be great as long as you’re in a safe place.
